Mission of the Holy Spirit in the Church Age

 

Mission of the Holy Spirit today in the Church age believers:

  • As related to Christ – to glorify Christ in the life of the Church Age’s believer
  • As related to God the Father – to secure the Church Age believers while in time
  • As related to Church Age believers – to transform us into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

Rom 8:4  That2443 the3588 righteousness1345 of the3588 law3551 might be fulfilled4137 in1722 us,2254 who walk4043 not3361 after2596 the flesh,4561 but235 after2596 the Spirit.4151

 

When we walk in the Spirit:

  • The work of the OSN is not fulfill in the life of the believer (Gal. 5:16)
  • The fruit of the Spirit will manifests in the life of the believer.

 

The fruit of the Spirit is superhuman qualities that energize a believer to perform extra ordinary task. The fruit of the Spirit is grace provision given as a package (all the nine virtues) produces by the Holy Spirit only.

 

James 1:14  But1161 every man1538 is tempted,3985 when he is drawn away1828 of5259 his own2398 lust,1939 and2532 enticed.1185  Personal sin is a matter of choice, if a believer choose to sin, he will sin. God and Satan do not make the believer sin. Every person is personally accountable for his own decision and action.

Old man – refers to believer’s focus when yielded to OSN. Inner man – refer’s to believer’s focus when yielded to Holy Spirit.

 

Note: I John 1:8 is about old sin nature (OSN) not about personal sin. As long as the believer is on this planet, he is going to sin deliberately or unconsciously,  with knowledge or in complete ignorance (Romans 6:6, 7:22).

 

Volitional perfection refers to freedom from present activity of personal sin in the believer. Consider that there are three categories of sin:

  • Personal sin
  • Adam’s original sin (Romans 5:12) which God the Father credits to every member of the human race.
  • Old sin nature – the source of all sins. Adam got his OSN at his fall not at his birth (he was created not born). OSN is genetically passed through biological transmission. The Lord Jesus Christ has no OSN because He has no earthly father.

 

Categories of sinning

  • Continuous sinning:  the spiritual immature or reversionist believer’s unchecked emotional rebellion (spiritually immature believers or carnal believers)
  • Sporadic sinning: whenever the believer’s emotional rebellion is check with rebound, and spirituality doctrine (growing believers).
  • Occasional sinning: spiritually mature believer constantly checking emotional revolt of the soul with rebound and other problem solving devices (mature believers only).

 

Spiritually mature believer is a believer with maximum metabolized Bible doctrine in the soul manifested by his walk in the pre-designed plan of God (PPOG).

 

The stages of reversionism:

  1. Reaction and distraction
  2. Frantic search for happiness
  3. Intensification of reactor’s factors
  4. Emotional revolt of the soul
  5. Permanent negative volition toward Bible doctrine
  6. Vacuum of the soul
  7. Black-out of the soul
  8. Scar tissue of the soul
  9. reverse process reversionism

 

The warning not to harden (callused due to repeated irritation) the heart being callused to the ministry of the Holy Spirit (Hebrews 3:7-11) is directed toward every believer. This refers to:

  1. Grieving the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30-32) where:
    • The old sin nature is in control
    • There is negative volition toward Bible doctrine
    • There is no metabolization of Bible doctrine

 

  1. Quenching of the Holy Spirit – (1 Thess 5:19)

·        Black of the soul – the creation of the vacuum of the soul that facilitates the new system of suction.

·        Execution of three arrogance skills (self-justification, self-glorification)

·        Black out of the soul immobilized previously metabolized Bible doctrine in the soul.

 

There are 2 exhortations here:

  1. The exhortation within the Body of Christ (Hebrews 3:12-13)
  2. Exhortation by showing the rewards of being steadfast - not just a partaker but a companion of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Millennial kingdom (Heb. 3:14).

 

There are five Warnings from the book of Hebrews: Danger signs on the road of disobedience – the flashing red lights in the highway of reversionism

  1. The danger of drifting
  2. The danger of not entering into the rest of God (Heb. 3-4). The danger of doubting the graciousness of God refusing to walk with Him.
  3. The danger of not going on to maturity (Heb. 5-6) – the danger of spiritual deformity – the danger of not growing in grace and knowledge of God.
  4. The danger of willful sinning (Heb. 10) – the danger of despising your relationship with God, the danger of despising the value of Bible doctrine in your life.
  5. The danger of becoming indifference to the will and purpose of God (Heb. 12) the danger of continual rejection Bible doctrine until becoming hostile and totally negative to Christ, to communicator (pastor/teacher) and Bible doctrine.

 

These five warnings are summarize as:

  1. Don’t drift into the cosmic system
  2. Wake-up from your unbelief of God’s truth
  3. Refuse to become a part of the regenerate society
  4. Don’t despise the warning of God’s Word
  5. Don’t depart from reality and truth of God

 

These warnings are address to believers (not to unbelievers) who can fail to glorify God and who can loss their temporal and eternal rewards. The danger of drifting implies several things:

1.      The danger of letting the truth of New Testament slip away (Heb. 2:1-4)

2.      The danger of drifting away from the truth  of the Messiah (1:1-14)

3.      This is a warning to pay attention to the truth that you once believed but now are rejecting.

 

The writer of the Epistle to the Hebrews answered four issues related to doubting the person of the Messiah (Heb. 2:5-18). The Son is superior to Moses (Heb. 3:3-6):

  1. Christ is the builder of the house – Moses was a part of the house (3)
  2. Christ was over the house  - Moses was in the house (5)
  3. Christ is a Son – Moses was a servant (5)
  4. Christ is the revealer – Moses testified to the revelation  (5b)

 

The whole issue of deception in the Garden of Eden is fake salvation. Satan presented to Adam and the woman a salvation that cannot save. Satan offered the fake salvation ahead of God. In God, there is no such thing as delayed or advance. He is always on time, not too early, not too late. Satan is always in hurry, since he is not in control of human history and not even in control of himself.

 

God is a God of mercy. He offers peace and reconciliation to His enemies long before they have realization of the incoming disaster ahead of them. God is absolutely just and fare to every member of the creation. He offered salvation to angels as He offers salvation to the human race. God cannot be fare and just it He neglected to offer salvation for the fallen angels.

 

Only Christ is forever holy, pure and blameless. No one is qualified to go to the Cross to redeem the entire human race. Angels are related to everything that God is doing for mankind. Remember Christ died for all creation (that is both angelic and human beings – Hebrews 2:9-10). Both angels and human beings are going to wear the same garments in eternity future.  Angels are called and elected, meaning to say, there was never a time when they were not elect or chosen by God (1 Tim. 5:21). Christ reconciles all things (both angels and human beings) to Himself.

 

The angelic conflict is a point that unites both angelic pre-historic times and human historical times. Both angels and human beings have freewill or volition. Volition is the decision of the soul. Because of volition angels were divided into elect and fallen. Because of volition human are divided into believers and unbelievers. In human history, we have now the co-existence of the invisible angels and the visible humans. The invisible elect angels are observing the human history without being active participants. The fallen angels are opposing human history

 

Angels and humans are rational beings. The pre-historic angels used their volition resulting to rewards and demerits, blessings and curses, promotion and demotion. Angels have ranks and orders in the same way human will have ranks and orders. Remember Lucifer was the highest ranking ceremonial guard of the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

There were two types of guards in the courtroom of God, the ceremonial guards and the guards of defense. The seraphim (which mean the burning ones) have six wings, who serve as guards of defense to the throne of God, do priestly service to God (Isaiah 6:1-3), totally devoted to God, they are winners of the angelic conflict.

 

Cherubim are lower in rank than the seraphim. In most occasions, they were and will vehicle of divine, guards the gate of the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3:21-24), they control weather and nature (Rev. 7:1-2), they will do the crisis evangelism (Rev. 14:6-7), they will give public warning concerning the danger of ecumenical movement (rev. 14:9).

 

Cosmic antagonism (John 15:18-25) is toward believers and Bible doctrine. During the Hypostatic union of the Lord Jesus Christ’s humanity, cosmic and satanic assault was concentrated on Him. Now that He is in Heaven, Satan redirected his attack toward the Church Age believers and Bible doctrine. Satan hates every person related to God through Christ.

 

The basic reasons for cosmic hostility toward believers:

  1. The cosmos system designed by Satan hates the Lord Jesus Christ without any rational or logical reason (John 15:18). This is because Satan’s antagonism is rooted in jealousy.
  2. The believers belong to God and no longer part of the Satan’s cosmic system. Every believer is said to be:
    • Not of this world
    • Out of this world
  3. The slave is not greater than the Master (John 15:20). If they persecuted the Lord Jesus Christ, they will also persecute His followers. We are commanded to remember (mnemoneuo), a command to call to mind something you know, to call to mind an established fact.
  4. Satan is jealous of God, believers, angels, unbelievers and everyone that exists.
  5. Church age believers are now the target of widespread satanic assault and persecution. Cosmic hostility means you will be hated by all, and when you are hated by everyone, there is a job for you to do.

 

There are two royal commissions given to Church Age believers: the royal priesthood and royal ambassadorship. Both are subject to satanic intervention and assault. Satan is working hard to destroy the believer’s character and personality before God and before human beings. Royal priesthood is designed to maintain the believer’s relationship and fellowship with God, while the royal priesthood is designed to maintain the believer’s relationship with God.

 

Basic principles related to royal ambassadorship:

  1. Every political ambassador is appointed by the king or president. Every Church Age believer is a royal ambassador appointed by God at the moment of salvation but the function is waits until reaching spiritual maturity. When it comes to divine calling, election, assignment and purpose, there is no self-appointment.
  2. Every political ambassador is supported by his king or president. Every royal ambassador does not need to worry about his logistical needs.
  3. Every political ambassador carries written instruction to avoid motivation and operational issues. Every spiritual ambassador has written instructions (the Word of God) related to his ambassadorship function and motivation.
  4. The political ambassador does not live for his own benefits or personal interest. The spiritual ambassador lives his life for the glory of God.
  5. The political ambassador does not advance or promote his own interests. The spiritual ambassador promotes the plan, purpose and will of God the God.
  6. The political ambassador does not take personally the insult directed toward his country or his leaders. The royal ambassador does not take the insult to himself personally.
  7. The recall of political ambassador is tantamount to declaration of war. The recall of Church Age believers from the world means war (of the Tribulation).

 

As believer, your life is either a book of Bible doctrine or a book disaster (2 Cor. 5:20, 2 Cor. 5:17-20), either you are resident of cosmic system or divine dynasphere, either you are living by policy of grace or by the policy of legalism. The phrase letters of recommendation refers to doctrine communicated faithfully and diligently to positive volition believers. The phrase you are our letters refers to doctrine received, perceived, metabolized and applied in the lives of spiritual mature believers. These are believers who by the grace and power of God survived victoriously the cosmic and satanic antagonism.
